Cheers rang out from students and players alike in the warm evening air after The Purples took home the victory on Friday night against Barren County with a score of 42-7.
Coach Mark Spader said, “It was good to see our players get an important district win and have the opportunity to celebrate with their teammates after all of their hard work.”
Sophomore offensive lineman George Flores said the win “feels great” and that it’s “nice to know the team is getting healthy.”
Coach Spader felt that two specific players stood out that night: Senior linebacker Montez Trussell, and offensive tackle Zach Jordan. Coach Spader thinks these two players have grown as leaders and are continuing to improve as the season continues.
Spader thanked improved consistency within the team and better execution of their game plans for the win, also adding, “[It’s] not perfect yet, but we are moving in the right direction.”

Spader sees great success down the road as he believes the tough teams they have faced so far are good preparation for district and playoff games down the road. He also shared that senior players have hopes of winning the state championship and making it a 3-peat.
The next home game will be against Warren Central Thursday, October 2nd. Come support your team and make some noise, Purples!
