Eleven BGHS juniors have been selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP), a highly competitive program where students will spend five weeks at Centre College, Morehead State University, or Murray State University. GSP selects students based on academic excellence, extracurricular leadership, and dedication to volunteer service.

Mary Lian: “Being selected for GSP is a manifestation of my efforts and achievements, giving me a sense of relief in seeing that it paid off. Becoming a GSP scholar also speaks to my family’s support and as you can imagine; they are also extremely proud of me.”
Lucy Allen: “I am most excited to meet new people at GSP!”
Reed Swenson: “To me, being accepted into GSP is a prestigious accomplishment that makes my hard work as a student worth the effort. I’m ecstatic to meet other like minded, driven people at GSP and get a taste of independence before college!”
Layne Cook: “I am most excited to get to learn about stuff for my future and meet so many new people from all across the state. This is a great opportunity and I am so honored and proud to get to be a part of the GSP program this year.”
Seamus Cronin: “I’m very happy and honored to represent the school. I am excited to meet new people and be on my own.”
Cira Granese: “I am excited to make new friends at GSP and live on a Kentucky college campus for 5 weeks. I can’t wait to expand my education more and make life-long memories.”
Emma Macy: “Being selected for GSP is very exciting and a wonderful opportunity. I feel very honored to be associated with such a highly regarded program.”
JoEllen Marshall: “Being selected for GSP is really meaningful to me because I attend a very competitive high school filled with talented students. Knowing I was chosen from such a strong group of applicants across the state leaves me with so much gratitude.”
Stella Miner: “I’m most excited to get a taste of the college experience before I actually have to leave home.”
Sarah Pannell: “Being selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program is an incredible honor, especially following the opportunity to attend the Governor’s School of the Arts last summer. I am grateful to be recognized among such a talented group of students. GSA was a life-changing experience and such a great opportunity to connect with like-minded Kentuckians who share my passion. I have no doubt that GSP will provide the same opportunities to learn and grow and make connections and life-long friendships.”
