President Donald Trump delivered the longest State of the Union address ever last night, speaking for 1 hour and 48 minutes. Here are four main takeaways in case you missed it.
The Economy
President Trump stated that the US Economy is a “roaring economy” and a “turnaround for the ages.” President Trump states we are going in the right direction, but polls show 72% of Americans rate economic conditions as “fair or poor.” Trump received multiple standing ovations from Republicans as he talked about the economy.
Tariffs
One of Trump’s primary focuses this term has been his tariff policies. Last night, Trump criticized the Feb. 20 Supreme Court ruling that struck down his tariffs. Five Supreme Court judges did not attend the State of the Union address, but Trump directly addressed the justices who were in attendance, sitting in the front row.
Foreign Policy
The Russo-Ukaranian War has been going for four years and has been a hot topic. President Trump in his running for 2024 stated that he will bring an end to the war. He shed a little light on this last night. He also focused on the Iran Crisis, to keep all options on the table. Trump has said that the tensions are high as military strikes on Iran have been carried out twice this year.

Trump has been preparing for the 250th birthday of America. Trump has made clear that it will be a special one. He used the “Golden Age” theme to appeal to patriotic sentiment ahead of midterms. The U.S. Men’s Hockey Team also attended the address after winning gold at the Olympics. The women’s team was invited after controversy surrounding a phone call between President Trump and the U.S. Men’s Hockey Team. However, Trump stated that they had an “academic obligation” and could not attend, but will be visiting the White House soon.
